Dear colleagues
We would like to give you some last minute
information regarding your visit to Cyprus.
- Electricity supply in Cyprus is at 240 volts.
We use three-prong (English type) plugs. If you plan to bring a
laptop computer, you can use continental Europe plugs by just directly
plugging them into local sockets. Computer power supplies automatically
switch between 120 and 240 V. Hence you do not need to be concerned. If you
are coming from outside Europe, and you would still like to bring a laptop,
please ask at the conference secretariat and we will see if we can find a
cable to lend you so that you can use your computer. You will not be able to
use hair dryers or other electrical equipment from outside Europe.
- We expect that most participants will want to
be informally dressed throughout the conference. The conference dinner will
take place outside and will also be informal.
- If you enjoy swimming, you could also bring a
swimsuit (recommended!). For those of you who will join the conference
excursion, we will have the opportunity to swim in the afternoon.
- The average temperature in Cyprus is 30
Celsius during the day and 22 Celsius during the night. Bring shorts!
- The conference registration will take place between 8 am and 9.45 am on
Saturday morning (5 July 2003) at the Central University Campus.
- Every day there will be a bus leaving your hotel for the conference
venue. Details on the time of departure vary slightly from hotel to hotel
and can be found at the hotel reception. The same holds for those of you
staying in Student Halls. For your convenience a map on how to get to the
conference venue is attached, just in case you need it.
Have a nice trip.
Warm regards,
Costas
