Short Biography

 

Andreas is a Lecturer in Finance at the Department of Public & Business Administration at the University of Cyprus. He has previously worked as Lecturer in Finance at the Manchester Business School for two years, where he is currently a Research Associate Fellow for CAIR. Prior to moving to the UK, Andreas completed his Ph.D. in Risk Management & Insurance at Georgia State University (USA - December 2006). His Ph.D. was partly funded by the Society of Actuaries.

 

Prior to his Ph.D., Andreas worked as an Actuarial Associate for Towers Perrin in Philadelphia for two years. During that time he passed the first three exams of the Society of Actuaries and gained significant experience with the valuation of employee benefit plans for large US companies. His undergraduate degree was completed with honors in 2001, in Actuarial Science (Minor in Mathematics) at the Pennsylvania State University.

 

Research, Teaching & Ph.D. students

Andreas' current research interests include structural models for credit risk, the information value of changes in bond ratings, insurance economics, business cycles, financial institutions and markets and the experimental testing of decision making under uncertainty.

He has published articles in the North American Actuarial Journal and the ASTIN Bulletin, while he is actively involved in Enterprise Risk Management and related international symposia.
